The company has given more than $ 820 million since its inception which has been directed to improving the lives of the local communities. In 1984, Coca-Cola Company established a foundation called the Coca-Cola Foundation which has been given the mandate of ensuring the communities welfare is taken care of. The foundation is the company’s primary international philanthropic arm which was registered in the United States as a charitable organization. The foundation grants are always distributed according to the company’s priorities, legal compliance as well as tax requirement The company is committed to giving back one percent of previous year profits as a donation with the aim of supporting the communities. This shows the company’s commitment to its social responsibility roles. Since the foundation was established, it has been supporting learning both inside and outside the classroom. This was seen as a major step in allowing the community gain access to education. The foundation through the non-governmental organizations has been able to reach to more people who are in need of help to pursue education especially those who are from humble backgrounds. This has been felt mainly in Africa where most countries are developing, and therefore most people have low living standards .
